Les Crosets, Switzerland

*  Compact, ultra-convenient ski-in ski-out resort...

*  Scenic, sunny setting in the heart of the vast Portes du Soleil...

*  Good local snow record...

Sitting on a sunny plateau high above the beautiful village of Champéry, Les Crosets is the most convenient and snow-sure of the ski resorts on the Swiss side of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area.

Super-compact and traffic-free, Les Crosets is a great option for families, with excellent nursery slopes, but also plenty to amuse more experienced skiers, both locally and in the rest of the Portes du Soleil, to which access is very easy.

The skiing

Les Crosets is the focal skiing point on the Swiss side of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, with lifts and pistes fanning out in all directions. All in all, it is a great base for all levels of skiers and boarders.

Not only is there plenty to amuse all levels of skiers locally (including the infamously steep 'Swiss Wall'), but you are also only one fast lift away from the Avoriaz ski area, across the border in France, from where you can quickly travel on to Châtel or even Morzine.

In the opposite direction in the Portes du Soleil 'circuit', the local slopes merge seamlessly into neighbouring Champoussin, and from there on to Morgins, which itself links back to Châtel, across the border in France.

The resort

Les Crosets is a 'micro-resort' - a collection of chalets, hotels and restaurants clustered on a sunny south-facing plateau high above the larger village of Champéry, with magnificent views across to the 3000m+ peaks of the Dents du Midi.

Genuinely ski-in, ski-out, and surrounded by lifts and pistes, Les Crosets is by far the most convenient of the ski resorts on the Swiss side of the Portes du Soleil, for all levels of skier and boarder.

Although Les Crosets occupies a strategic location at the base of multiple lifts and pistes, giving it a busy feel by day, it remains blissfully undeveloped and is very quiet at night so is not an ideal resort for party animals! Resort facilities are limited to one small food shop, a handful of bars and restaurants and, of course, the obligatory ski rental outlets.
