The winners of the World Ski Awards 2020 have been unveiled! These prestigious awards, now in their 8th year, aim to drive up standards across the ski industry by rewarding the organisations that are leaders in their field. Voted for by both ski industry professionals and the general public, they recognise excellence and innovation in the worldwide ski community.

This year some of our favourite ski resorts and luxury hotels have been honoured with an award. Congratulations to all the winners!

Val Thorens has won the award for World’s Best Ski Resort 2020, thanks to its winning combination of snow-sure slopes, a vast ski area with plenty of choice for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities, extensive selection of slope-side accommodation with something to suit all tastes and budgets, and wide range of resort facilities.

Also in Val Thorens, the Hotel Fahrenheit Seven has been awarded the title of France’s Best Ski Hotel 2020. Kitzbühel has been voted Austria’s Best Ski Resort 2020, quite an achievement given that there are over 400 ski resorts in Austria.

This bustling, medieval town is renowned for its lively après-ski scene, while its extensive ski area – which has seen significant investment over the last few years – boasts a modern lift system, excellent piste preparation and, of course, the Hahnenkamm, the most infamous downhill run in in the world.

Across the border, the title of Italy’s Best Ski Resort 2020 has been awarded to Selva Val Gardena.

Located in the heart of the spectacular Dolomites and the world-renowned Sella Ronda ski circuit, Val Gardena promises skiers a fantastic mix of stunning scenery, extensive skiing, high quality accommodation, and legendary Süd-Tirol hospitality.

Across the Dolomites in the fashionable resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo, the 5-star Cristallo Resort & Spa is Italy’s Best Ski Hotel 2020.

Part of Marriott’s ‘Luxury Collection’, which features some of the top hotels in the world, the Cristallo occupies a spectacular setting overlooking Cortina, with stunning views of the magnificent Dolomite mountains. It combines traditional luxury with 21st century facilities and first-class service.

Over in Switzerland, the romantic Hotel Chesa Grischuna in Klosters has been named Switzerland’s Best Boutique Ski Hotel 2020.

Steeped in history, this tiny chalet-style hotel is full of olde worlde Alpine charm and it is hard to imagine a cosier and more welcoming atmosphere. Add to that a reputation for fantastic gourmet cuisine and it’s easy to see why the Chesa Grischuna has won this award in each of the last four years.
